Remember those summer reading challenges when you’d stuff your library tote with books and promise you’d totally read them all? Yeah… us too. Now imagine that — but swap the books for needlepoint canvases and the soggy library tote for your beautifully organized needlepoint bag. Welcome to the Stitch Sloth Summer Stitching Challenge.

Running from July 4 through September 1, this challenge is your personal excuse to finally tackle that stack of WIPs you’ve been “letting marinate” since 2022. (No judgment. We all have that one canvas we swore we’d finish before Halloween. Of 2020.)

This isn’t a race, a leaderboard, or a stress-inducing contest. Nope. This is all about you vs. you — in the best way possible.

🌞 What’s the Stitch Sloth Summer Stitching Challenge?

Glad you asked (and even gladder you’re here). The Summer Stitching Challenge is a community-wide event where you:

• Set a personal stitching goal

• Track your canvases all summer

• Tag them with “SC” in your StitchBook Project Description

• And yes… actually get a needlepoint gift from us if you complete it! 🎁

If you’re already a Stitch Sloth member (you’re awesome), just fill out the Google doc. If you’re not yet one of us (gasp!), you can fill out the Google Doc and join the Advanced Yearly Plan using code SUMMER and get the whole summer free.

No pressure, no points, no guilt. Just good stitching vibes.

🧵 What Counts As a Goal?

That’s the best part — you decide. Want to finish three minis? Great. Want to stitch one massive 3-footer that’s been haunting your closet since your grandmother gave it to you? Go for it.

You’ll also have the option to check off extra mini-challenges like:

• Trying a new fiber

• Stitching in a new location (beach, café, under a blanket fort…)

• Visiting a new LNS

• Finishing a WIP that’s older than your last phone upgrade

You’ll log your goal and extras in our easy Google Form, and then you’re in. No needles required to register.

🧶 Why You Should Join (Besides the Gift)

Let’s be honest — stitching during summer is a chef’s kiss. You can bring your canvas to the porch, the plane, the picnic blanket. And this challenge gives you the motivation to actually finish what you start (and maybe justify a few new canvases too).

Plus, the StitchBook lets you track it all like a digital diary — minus the “Dear Diary” part.
